[Guide] Lah, lor, ba, etc -- Meanings and Usage
Lah/La/Lar/Larh/Leh/Le/Ler/Lor/Mah/Ma/etc
Meaning: A word used to 'de-formalise' and 'un-tension' the sentence, i.e. to make the sentence more relaxed and friendly
Usage: Usually placed at the back of a sentence or phrase
Example: He's really stupid lah; don't go there lah, don't lah go there, we don't have enough GMs ingame lah...
Note: Lah originated from Malaysia (Not Singapore as many claim.
Malaysians were using it long before Singapore broke off from Malaysia.
Singapore was part of Malaysia until 1965, for those who dont know)
Also note that all these expressions have their fine differences,
so dont go around using them without that exact knowledge lolz...
Liao
Meaning: Already
Usage = Placed at the back of the sentence, like lah
Example = You ate liao ah? GM come liao, faster turn off your bot.
Bah/Ba
Meaning: A suffix similar to lah, but with the connotation of 'why not'.
Example: I think you better go offline ba. Try to relog ba.
Hor/Ha
Meaning: To request affirmation
Example: You kissed him that day hor... (You kissed him that day right...?)
Wah Lau/Walao/Wah Lan/Wah Liao/Fwah/etc
Meaning: An exclamation, similar to [Removed]
Example: Walao I pwned a level 80 WB... What a noob man
Ah/Ar/Kah/Ka/Ke/Ma/Mah
Meaning: To question
Usage: Placed at the back of a sentence, like a suffix. Similar to
the Japanese 'ka' suffix, or a simple question mark in English.
Example: You didn't go for supper ah?
Note: 'ma' and 'mah' can be used in two ways, as a sentence
deformalizer (in the 'lah' section), or as a question, as described in
this section.
Bo[1]
Meaning: To question. Similar to 'ah' but with the connotation of 'or not'
Example: You killed him bo?
Bo [2]
Meaning: No/don't have
Example: Did I kill him? Bo la...
De
Meaning: A suffix with no particular meaning, other than to slightly emphasise the sentence. Sometimes used with lah.
Example: GM mostly not online de. He sure kill you de lah, better you dont go near him.
Sia
Meaning: A suffix with the connotation 'damn', but weaker. Similar to the English expression 'man'
Example: He survived the PK sia... Wah GM just banned 40 botters sia..
Sweat/swt
Meaning: Damn this one is hard to express... Anime watchers will
understand this, but I'm posting for the sake of non-anime'ers lol.
Sweat is used like... when you encounter someone doing something really
dumb, then you go 'sweat...'. Something like 'ugh' or 'duhhh'. You
know, when someone does something so absurdly stupid that even your
eyebrows twitch... lol.
Example: best one I could think of -> https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=CLOxcjS3RaI
Kena [1]
Meaning: Have to/got to
Example: You kena go there (you got to go there)
Kena [2]
Meaning: Get it (as in, to receive a negative repercussion from
your previous action, i.e. "If you even try to pk me, you'll get it
from me!")
Example: Idiot, you wanna kena ah, trying to scam GM??
Kena [3]
Meaning: To hit the target, sometimes used to simply mean, 'to hit' or 'to knock', be it directly or indirectly.
Example: I threw that casually, but kena him oh lol... I tried to
run through that small corridor but accidentally kena the wall ouch.
Note: Sometimes used with the Malay prefix 'ter-', making it 'terkena', which implies an accidental hit or knock.
Example: The waitress spilled coffee on the table, splashed terkena me damn.
Chui
Meaning: Technically it means 'blow' in cantonese, as in blowing a
candle. But when a suffix is added, e.g. 'ah' or 'meh', then the
meaning changes to mean, "so what? there's nothing you can do about it"
Example: I like to laugh this way KEKEKEKEKE, chui mehhh?? (refer to page 4 of this thread oh lol)
Geng/terror/terrer
Meaning: Basically means 'very damn good', depending on sentence, may mean powerful, very stylish, very good, very strong, etc.
Example: Wow the way he scolded that noob damn geng man... His car geng sia, modded to the max...
Note: 'Terror' is used verbally nowdays, nobody actually writes
them anymore. The proper way to use them is 'his dad used to be a
terror in his younger days', but this method of speaking was used way
back in the 50s, during the English colonisation of Malaysia i think.
From there the Malays picked it up and used it, e.g. "bapa dia dulu
terror orangnya", and naturally now we use it in all our dialects, e.g.
"his dad damn terror last time man", and 'geng' is used in exactly the
same way, e.g. "his dad damn geng last time man", though 'geng' extends
to mean basically 'very good' in any form of usage. Hope this helps.

Re: [Guide] Lah, lor, ba, etc -- Meanings and Usage
Does Ah/Ar/Kah/Ka/Ke/Ma/Mah need a question mark? Japanese Ka doesnt (Desu ka.)
Sweat espresses embarassment, mostly cause someone is doing something really dumb, or scold you, moves near you, etc..
Maybe thats a more understandable explaination xD
Though i wonder why you dont translate the small words too and make the whole sentence english :X
